Located in a quiet, green area, this 14th century castle is surrounded by 9 ha of gardens with its ponds and meadows. It offers several living spaces with a total surface area of ± 2.500 m².
The moated Rubens Castle or "Het Steen" was sold to Pieter-Paul Rubens in 1635, who lived there with his wife Helena Fourment. The painter renovated the old fortress into a beautiful Renaissance-style castle. A number of elements of this renovation are still visible, such as the tower building or his coat of arms which still hangs above the baroque fireplace in the dining room. Opposite the castle there is a beautiful view of the "Neerhof" from the 18th century, consisting of three buildings in U-shape. Thanks to its current owners, the castle regained its former splendor in the 1950s.
The castle is easily accessible and is located on the Brussels - Antwerp axis.
